Sticks-2-Schools Adds 18 Schools and Clubs to Program
April 30, 2008 ---- San Jose, CA ---- When they’re not PLAYING lacrosse, Stealth Team Captain Colin Doyle and Assistant Team Captain Shaydon Santos travel throughout the Bay Area TEACHING lacrosse. The Stealth-led clinics are sponsored by Sticks-2-Schools, a local nonprofit organization fighting childhood obesity by helping motivate kids to get more active.
"I’d say 50 percent of the kids in California have never heard of lacrosse," Santos said. "Within 10 to 15 minutes, they’re catching and throwing the ball. After 40 minutes the kids have had a good workout -- and still have big smiles on their faces."
Relatively easy-to-learn and outrageously fun, lacrosse can be played indoors or out by both girls and boys of all ages.
